I’ve been thinking about fear. I have met several people who are riddled with fear. It dominates their lives and colors their decisions. Fear certainly dominates the media, including our politics.
As a society, we seem to subscribe to the belief that the glass is half empty rather than half full. We rarely ask ourselves what is in the glass, we just presume it is something good and we need more of it. Maybe it is actually better to have a glass of this particular substance half full.
So, in order to counter this obsession, I’ve revisited some of the more famous quotations on the topic.
“We have nothing to fear, but fear itself.” FDR.
“Either/or is not the choice. It’s keeping your balance and not being distracted by fear.” C.K. Chesterton
Cute kitty pictures can also be an antidote to fear, so here’s one.
