Last night on the local news, there was an interview with a woman who took a young boy on a Christmas shopping trip as part of a gift for kids program sponsored by a local charity. The woman was very impressed by the young shopper. He select some practical items as well as items for his parents, brothers and sisters and a book for himself.
As they left the store, he put down the bags and dug out the book, sat down in the store lobby and read the entire book. She was delighted and so was he.
Books are magical. They entertain, connect us to others and reassure us that we are valued.
