CHANGEUP
In baseball “changeup”, written as one word, is a pitch which starts like a fastball, but slows as it approaches the batter. Since the batter has identified it as a fastball, they can be thrown off by the change.
If you are a baseball fan, you probably know this, but if not, this will keep you from you thinking the book title is misspelled. The book is more than a story about baseball. It is about courage, determination, and discovering that life is far more complex than we could ever have imagined. Changeup was written for middle grade kids, but I hope parents and other adults will read it as well.
